Neighbourhood Nature Adventures: Wildlife Walk

Know your neighbour walk

Time: Wednesday 14 December, 3.30am-5:00pm

Location: Meet at wooden bridge over Elster Creek between Wave St and Paul Hester Walk, Elwood.

 

Elster Creek is home to more species than you can find at Melbourne Zoo! This guided community walk will introduce you to your native neighbours.

Neighbourhood Nature Adventures: Build a Nest Box

Build a Nest Box

Time: Saturday 17 December 10am – 12noon

Location: Port Phillip EcoCentre (St Kilda Botanical Gardens 55a Blessington Street, St Kilda)

 

Nest boxes come in all shapes and sizes and provide homes for many native animals including mircobats and wood ducks. Join the EcoCentre’s Youth Wildlife Ambassador in constructing nest boxes for Elster Creek. Materials and tools provided.

 

Cost: Free (building but not keeping nest box) or $30 (building and keeping nest box)

Plants for Penguins! (for 15-25 year olds)

Plants for Penguins! (for all ages)

Did you know our local penguins have been nibbling away on plants on the St Kilda breakwater to use as nesting material? As this foliage disappears, the penguins have been opting to gather plastics to nest on. Please help us address this by coming together for a mass plant propagation session to create a better home for penguins, made from indigenous plants. Disabled access. All ages welcome.

Coast Bike Ride
