Water Harvesting
Access to clean water is recognized as a fundamental human right.
It is also one of the most critical factors required to support
populations of wild plants and animals. Melbourne's water
supply is derived from river systems in eastern Victoria.
As the human population increases, how do we maintain adequate
water supplies to Melbourne without depleting the natural systems
that ensure good water quality?
The ability to harvest and store natural rainfall, may come at
some cost, but will significantly reduce demand on the mains supply.
Measures to save
water may be even more fruitful, and inexpensive.
