Did you know that cigarette butts are the most littered item on the planet? And that in 2020, cigarettes butt represented 16% of all recorded items in our Rubbish Report?
Come to survey the amount of cigarette litter around Port Phillip Eco Centre and be a But Champion! We will collect and count discarded cigarette butts to assess the extent of the litter problem and track changes over time. The data collected will help us to understand and inform litter reduction strategies. Also, we will have prizes for the ‘butt champion’ who collects the most butts!
Hosted by our Multicultural Bay Ambassador, Parth, a mass media communicator passionate about making business more sustainable. He will teach us about the cigarette butt issue and then guide us to the streets surrounding the Port Phillip EcoCentre to do a cigarette butt survey.
Language support is available in Spanish. Please let us know if you need support in other languages in the registration form. Remember to be SunSmart, and bring a hat, sunscreen, reusable water bottle, and sunglasses if needed.
Meeting point: Port Phillip EcoCentre (38 Blessington Street, St Kilda)
