A free online workshop on how the GED could work in the protection of waterways, hosted by Environmental Justice Australia and the EcoCentre

Per 1 July 2021, the General Environmental Duty (GED) has come into effect in Victoria.

The (GED) is at the centre of the Environment Protection Act 2017 and it applies to all Victorians. People must reduce the risk of harm from activities:

  • to human health and the environment
  • from pollution or waste.

This means the approach to protection of human health and the environment has changed.

This general information webinar is for groups and individuals who are looking after a waterway, and are interested in learning more about how to apply the GED to the protection of their local creek, river or Bay.

This webinar will be followed by a workshop hosted by EJA and EcoCentre, on Wednesday 8 December for those who may have a case study they wish to workshop in more detail.

The EcoCentre acknowledges the Kulin Nations, including the Yalukit Willam clan of the Boon Wurrung language group, traditional custodians of the land on which we are located.

We pay respects to their Elders past and present, and extend that respect to other First Nations and Elder members of our multicultural community.
