Join us at Elwood Beach to help protect and restore critical habitat for the Blue Wren through weeding, propagating, planting, and habitat observation activities!
Become a steward of Elwood Foreshore Reserve by participating in our Beachkeepers event focused
on conserving and enhancing the habitat of the delightful Blue Wren. This small, vibrant bird relies
on healthy, diverse ecosystems to thrive, and your efforts can make a big difference.
Guided by our conservation team, you will participate in hands-on activities such as removing
invasive weeds, propagating native plants, and planting them to improve the habitat quality for the
Blue Wren and other local wildlife. You’ll also have the opportunity to learn about the Blue Wren’s
habitat preferences and assist in monitoring the area for these beautiful birds, gaining insights into
how we can better protect and support them.
This event is an excellent chance to connect with nature and contribute to the health of our coastal
environment.
Dress for the weather and bring a hat, sunscreen, and a reusable water bottle. All tools and
equipment will be provided, but you are welcome to bring your own garden gloves if preferred.
Whether you’re a bird enthusiast, an experienced conservationist, or just eager to learn, this family-
friendly event offers a meaningful way to support local biodiversity and the captivating Blue Wren.
We look forward to seeing you there!
We would like to acknowledge the project support provided by the Victorian Government through
