This month our Beachkeepers will be joining Port Phillip Baykeeper Neil Blake to monitor sand surface levels and map coastal vegetation cover at McGregor Street Dunes in Middle Park.
The information we collect during this research will help us better understand the combined effects of rising sea levels and rip currents from St Kilda breakwater on Middle Park beach.
Dune Profiling Activities will help the Port Phillip Baykeeper, to monitor sand surface levels and map coastal vegetation cover, noting the specific elevations above sea level that different species inhabit. This information will inform future planting strategies responding to rising sea levels.
Please bring:
- Gloves
- Reusable waterbottle (and snacks, optional)
- Hat, sunglasses
- Appropriate clothing and sturdy enclosed footwear
