Join us in discovering the diverse flora of Australia’s vibrant tapestry

Join us for an exciting event designed for international students, where you’ll learn all about the indigenous plants in Port Phillip Bay and why it’s important. Led by Lara, our Multicultural Bay Ambassador, we’ll explore the native plants from the St Kilda West Beach, ID them using the INaturalist app, do some hands-on weeding, and have fun chatting with other nature lovers.

With this, Beachkeepers of the Bay for international students will give the participants the opportunity to

  • Discover the  various native plants that call Port Phillip Bay home.
  • Understand why indigenous plants are vital for our coastal ecosystems.
  • Learn how to use the INaturalist app to identify different species.
  • Help keep Port Phillip Bay free of weeds.
  • Meet other international students who share your love for nature.
  • Find out about volunteering opportunities with the EcoCentre to help protect the environment.

By taking part, you’ll not only learn about indigenous plants and enjoy outdoor activities but also make new friends and contribute to important conservation efforts. Plus, you’ll be helping gather important information about the native plants diversity of Port Phillip Bay, which helps us protect their habitat.

Don’t miss out this wonderful opportunity! Register below

Please remember to wear appropriate clothing for all weather conditions and to bring a hat, sunscreen, and a reusable water bottle.

This event is part of the Multicultural Bay Ambassadors Program, an inclusive environmental volunteering project supported by the Port Phillip Bay Fund.
