Discover the captivating world of wetland biodiversity at our upcoming Wetlands and Wildlife event, presented in partnership with Melbourne Water.
Come along to the Edithvale-Seaford Wetlands Environmental Area, home to an array of magnificent waterbirds and melodious frogs. By joining us at this event, you will unearth the ways in which wetlands contribute to water quality, provide diverse havens for wildlife, nurture fish populations, regulate floodwaters, and sustain surface water flow during dry spells.
Activities: Bird watching, educational talks, biodiversity surveys
During this event, we hope to witness the beauty of waterbirds gracefully navigating their wetland habitats and perhaps catch the melodious chorus of frogs and other fauna that add their unique voices to the ecosystem. These fascinating creatures offer a glimpse into the delicate balance of life within wetlands, showcasing the ecology and intricate connections between species.
The EcoCentre will introduce participants to the iNaturalist app to explore and discover the wonderful wildlife and local flora nestled in amongst the Edithvale-Seaford Wetlands Environmental Area. This tool will help us document and share our observations, contributing to citizen science and fostering a greater appreciation of our natural surroundings.
Together, we can foster a sense of stewardship and contribute to the conservation of these remarkable ecosystems. The welfare of wetlands rests in our hands. Join us to make a difference and protect these vital habitats for the future.
This is a family-friendly event. All are welcome.
