What do you do with a broken chair? Or with a bike when the wheel runs out of true? Or with a sweater full of moth holes? Toss it? No way! Bring it to the St Kilda Repair (online) Café and let one of our volunteer fixers talk you through how to make it as good as new while you learn new skills.
Due to the COVID-19 group-gathering restrictions, we have moved the Repair cafe online. This will be a trial to see how a new method of virtual instructions between a skilled volunteer and a community member will flow, where the community member becomes the repairer!
This unique session will be held on Sunday 14 June, from 2pm. Please get in early as we will close the cafe once we suspect no more repairs are required.
How will this event operate?
Please register and utilise the Zoom link which will be emailed to you upon registration. You can join the repair cafe from 2.00pm on the day. Once you have joined, you will have the opportunity to let Repair Cafe volunteers know about the item you would like to have assistance repairing, and you will be paired with the appropriate skilled volunteer and sent to a virtual room to work together. Please note, this will be a first-come, first-served basis, so there may be waiting times. We also can not assist with electrics repairs for safety reasons.
What can I have virtual help to repair?
- Computer problems (software issues) / General IT
- Bikes
- Furniture
- Sewing/textiles
- Footware
- Jewellery
We always need volunteer fixers, and a range of vollies!
- If you love to tinker and could bring your toolbox, email the organisers here.
- If you could help with registration, photographing, coordination or promotion… Please email the organisers here.
