Join Port Phillip Baykeeper and our Friends of Gardiners Creek Valley for a morning exploring Glen Iris Wetlands.
Wetlands are critical features of our landscape providing numerous benefits to us all. They are one of the most productive ecosystems in the world, comparable to rain forests and coral reefs. They help to improve water quality, provide fish and wildlife habitats, store floodwaters and maintaining surface water flow during dry periods providing values that no other ecosystem can.
Street litter makes its way to our waterways and is a major cause of marine pollution. At this community event we will discuss the risks microplastics are having on our waterways and what we can do as a community to combat this issue for example ongoing citizen science efforts to document the presence of plastic pollution. Roll up your sleeves to learn and help nature!
This event celebrates community, connection and conservation. Join in the fun at this free, family-friendly and accessible event supported by Melbourne Water.
