Since 2009, the EcoCentre has established strong links with Elders of the local Aboriginal community to assist in their efforts to achieve social justice and improve the health, education and employment opportunities.
In January of 2013, we released our Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP), endorsed by the Boon Wurrung Foundation and developed to highlight our commitment to continue to build upon and enhance this exisiting working relationship.

'Country Connect' is a partnership project between the Boon Wurrung Foundation and the EcoCentre, running from 2011-2013. The project was funded by the federal government Caring for Country program and aimed to provide guidelines to enable local land managers and Aboriginal groups to proactively protect Cultural Heritage sites from gradual destruction due to erosion, weed invasion and unmanaged human foot traffiic. The project also provides a practical focus to bring together members of the Aboriginal community with government agencies and community groups to increase awareness of issues and the possibilities of shared solutions.
After months of hard work from a committed team, we are proud to announce the completion of the Best Practice Guidelines for Protecting Cultural Heritage Sites.
