Habitat for Urban Wildlife – Hollows & Nest Boxes

• Why do some birds and animals need our help with nesting and housing?
• What are the best designs for particular species?
• How can we design these so that they can be built in schools and in our own backyards?

In this program the students will learn about adaptations of a range of wildlife species especially birds and mammals that use hollows for nesting and roosting.

They will learn about their natural habitats, how and why many of these have been destroyed, and how these species need to make adaptations for survival.

They also learn about how we can help these species by designing and building boxes and tubes for them.They will learn about the importance of catering to the specific needs of individual species.

The Q&A session following the video will allow students to further explore and investigate this topic.

This incursion is delivered online using Zoom. A teacher and class can join the session from the classroom or remotely from home. A meeting link and instructions will be sent out with the booking confirmation. Minimum group size is 20, maximum group size is 50.
