Vanessa (she/her) is a passionate advocate, educator and senior lawyer and has worked across the gender equity and human rights sector for the past 10 years, before deciding to use her passion to protect and conserve the environment. She holds a Bachelor of Commerce and Laws (Hons) from Deakin University and has held numerous leadership positions working with the private and public sector to drive positive change, including as President of Victorian Women Lawyers.
After successfully delivering impactful and large-scale projects in fundamental human rights and gender equity across Victoria and nationally, Vanessa is now committed to working with community to drive large-scale and rapid response to the threat of climate change. She recently commenced studies at Oxford University in Climate Emergency, with a focus on understanding solutions to address the global climate emergency through economic frameworks and business model innovation. Vanessa also currently works as a casual Mentor and Adjunct Lecturer in various topics of law, including Environment.
During her spare time, she enjoys being in, and around the ocean and being active as much as possible. She regularly takes her fur-children, ‘Ocean’ and Donnie to their local beach for a swim, surfs, salsa dances, and runs her own photography business as a Lifestyle, Surf and Ocean Photographer using her work to help mitigate the worst impacts of climate change through awareness raising and volunteering.
