Free Online Event! Whale Evolution

50 million years ago, the ancestor of the Blue Whale walked on land. At the size of a labrador and superficially resembling an otter, it would eventually make its way into the water. Now, whales dominate the marine realm… but how did they do it?

Join the EcoCentre's palaeontologist Ben Francischelli on a journey to uncover the evolution of the biggest predators that have ever existed.

From the walking whales of Indo-Pakistan, to deep-diving beaked whales that can hold their breath for more than 3 hours, Ben will unravel the successive transformation of these incredible animals in a one-time-only, online talk. He'll also be sharing world-first exclusives of fossil whales he's finding in Australia, which is changing the way we view the evolution of entire whale lineages…
