Nature Space

About the Program

Nature Space is a volunteering program for young people aged 16-25 who are clients of the Headspace Early Psychosis service.

Nature Space expands young people’s opportunities to contribute meaningfully in the environmental space, through practical volunteering and online capacity-building sessions. Practical sessions take place at the penguin colony in St Kilda, Albert Park Lake and Rickett’s Point Marine sanctuary.

EcoCentre staff provide unique, tailored environmental volunteering activities and pathways to future volunteering opportunities. Headspace staff support participants during practical sessions, provide a supported social space during the intervening weeks, and help connect participants to wider vocational opportunities.

This initiative is supported by the Parks Victoria Volunteering Innovation Fund.

The EcoCentre acknowledges the Kulin Nations, including the Yalukut Weelam clan of the Boon Wurrung language group, traditional owners of the land on which we are located.

We pay respects to their Elders past and present, and extend that respect to other Aboriginal and Elder members of our multicultural community.
